matte I did instead of an 'exploding head' compositing brief for college. I was sick of seeing people sneezing and their heads come off so i did this instead.
The original plan was to integrate a city (and a blimp) but despite the fact that they'd been constructed I felt they didn't fit the scene or mood I was trying to convey.

I used Photoshop for a majority of this, using maya only for paint effects and the occaisional bit of billowing smoke/mist.
All the moving elements were then comped in AFX 6.5
