This piece was inspired by my niece and nephew who have great fun "playing castle."
The story is that the Princess Areti was kidnapped and taken to a castle on the mountaintops. In the past this castle was spectacular, but has since been overtaken by evil and is falling into ruins. This painting shows the young hero freeing the princess as they escape from the tower.
The main things that I wanted to show are the hero's bravery as well as Areti's complete confidence in him. Also I enjoyed experimenting with extreme perspectives and the illusion of heights. Hopefully I was successful at these goals.
