In a nut shell... I made this piece in reaction to what been going on in the British fine art scene over the last decade or so. The leader of the Brit Art moment is Damien Hurst, mostly famous for putting dead animals in formaldehyde tanks and exhibiting them in galleries. It seems best leaving it up to the viewer to interpret my feeling about the subject.
Hope you like it, and thanks in advance!
For the dead cow and rider, I made low poly meshes in Max, then created the heavy details in Zbrush2. The background gallery was made in Max, then the whole thing rendered in Brazil. I needed the final image to be at least 10,000 pixels high for an exhibition I hope to have soon, so there was a final detail pass in Photoshop for all the fur and intricate details.
