I typically aim for ambiguity and a sense of the unexplained in my work, and tend to leave interpretation to the viewer. Juxtaposing aspects associated with conflicting emotions is something I do a lot, this piece being an example of a horrific mutation portrayed in an aesthetically beautiful way. I work intuitively and don't seek to explain everything away!
Several hours were spent in Photoshop and Painter over two consecutive evenings, beginning with a source photo of myself.
