This project started as a joke/dare to make an alien character with arms coming from the top of his head where his antennae would be. It turned into a small project that I used as this years Holiday greeting card.
Everything 3D done in Maya, textures maps painted in Photoshop. Background is a composite of a couple of photos, hand painted depth map, some extra painting/comping.
Characters and gifts were rendered in Mental Ray and then composited with the desert background in Photoshop.
