I wanted to create a mysterious scifi piece, with less story and more attention to mood. It shows a spider bot crawling around in a cold ice environment, illuminated by a strange artificial sun device in the background. The background scene is modelled in 3dsmax, while the spider is done in Maya. Final color adjustments were done in Photoshop. This is my first finished 3d piece for a long time, and I spent a lot of time in the CGS WIP forum with it. Thanks to all you people for helping me with useful feedback.
