I craeted this image awhile back but never really posted it with a description. I've always love the old master painters like Rembrandt and others. I had the pleasure of viewing many originals at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY. So for this assignment I wanted to give a bit of the classical feel to this image in terms of lighting but use a steampunk aesthetic to depict the tinker in his workshop building robots and all sort of gadgets.
I mainly used photoshop for the painting but layed out the large forms with sketchup. The focus on this piece was the lighting and details. Hopefully I can visit the steampunk style again.
