I likie to think everyone/thing deserves a second chance- I had posted this painting a long time ago. It caused or sparked a few debates and really hadn't gotten to a finished state. I decided not to give up on this piece, and totally revisit it more than a year later with fresh eyes and a few new tricks up my sleeve.
I recropped on the image, went back and dug up some of the feedback I had recieved from friends and peers, and give this girl another chance.
This piece has evolved into a real atypical composition- maybe out of neccessity from existing past flaws, but still in a different way I wanted it to come to an assymetrical balance.
With her being born of a very stylized expressioned loose drawing- parts of her are still uncomfortably proportioned, I spent much of my efforts trying strike a sensibility of realism with her face and expression while keeping the rest of her in the realm of believability. The rest was getting the rest of the elements in the painting to compliment, not be overpowered by the main focus- but not to compete with it either.
Many an hour passed as I tried to walk this fine line.
