One of my biggest challenges. I created this piece while attending Full Sail University as an asset for my demoreel. As a non smoker I found it ironic that I was studying the ashtrays around campus. I love the wasteland look of the ashtray environment. The majority of my time was spent on the ash, trying to accomplish all of its characteristics using a variety of modeling and shading techniques.
